Living in Caves
You have probably heard stories about enlightened gurus in India going off by themselves to live in caves, away from people and the world. Many of us today would like to do the same thing–to go off somewhere and avoid people and the world. But we can’t. We have to work and make a living, take care of our children, our parents, and others who depend on us. So we stay busy, working and doing, avoiding the things that we don’t like about the world and insulating ourselves within our homes, surrounded by those that we care about.
Our world today is one in which living in caves is not an option for spiritual people. Although many of us would like to get away from it all and live in peace by ourselves, we are needed in the world today. It is important for us to bring our spirituality and our love to the world. We can only do that by interacting with others. So please, shine your light and love on everyone around you. Help to bring peace into your corner of the world.

Our Past Life Projects
Our past lives are not separate from our current lives. That is, we do not finish one life without having learned something that we can carry over into our current lives. Our past lives are like projects that we have undertaken. We have experiences various lessons in our past lives, and hopefully, we have learned the lessons that were offered to us through those lives.
When your soul completes a life, that life’s lessons are not packaged and put away, never to be seen again. Instead, the lessons that were learned are available for you to remember, to review, and to practice. Our goal as souls is to evolve, to become more God-like. Of course, if we haven’t learned a lesson in a past life, we are destined to revisit that lesson, to have the opportunity to master the learning that is being offered. Think about the lessons that are presenting themselves to you today. What can you learn from these opportunities?

Free will and Nature
We do have free will to do whatever we choose. However, we do have responsibilities to ourselves and to God to live in balance with the world around us. And that includes living in balance with the natural world. We have not been doing so; instead we have been trying to subjugate nature to our desires. And we have seen the results, most recently in the Gulf.
Have you considered that the many volcanoes, hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters that we have been experiencing lately may be Mother Earth’s way of telling us that we have gone too far? Rather than destructing nature, we need to be constructing a better way of working with our natural world so that we can remain in balance. So much of our time as humans on this planet has consisted of a battle to survive. Only in the last century have we been able to make our lives simpler. Modern technology has allowed us to spend less time working to live and more time to simply enjoy living our lives. Now we need to practice living our lives in balance with nature.

We are all One?
Don’t get it? How can we all be one? What does that mean?
Generally, when someone says that “we are all One” they mean that we all are a part of God, that we all come from god, and that we are all god-like. This is often confusing to people either because we think of ourselves as separate individuals, or because we believe ourselves to be separate from God, or because we just do not believe that we as humans are God-like.
I use another way of explaining the term, which may be easier for many people to understand. Think about it this way: Your body is a collect of systems (circulatory system, nervous system, digestive system, and so on). All these are part of, and interact within, your body. Within each body system are organs; for example, your circulatory system is composed of blood, veins and arteries, and your heart. Each of these (blood, veins, arteries, heart) is made up of individual cells.
Like our human bodies, the body of God (or Spirit; use whatever term you prefer) is made up of different parts. Each of us is a part of the body of God. Think of individual humans as the individual cells of spirit. Just like our bodies are made up of systems, Spirit is made up of different communities of humans. And just like the systems within our human bodies, communities of humans interact. The heart that pumps your blood is not directly attached to your feet, but the blood that flows through your body connects the two, just like highways and airways connect people in the world. We are all connected; we are all One.

Healing our Ancestral Wounds
Our ancestors’ woundings can impact us today, both physically and energetically. Attending a workshop with Dr. Steven Farmer and Jeremy Donovan , an Australian shaman, lead me to write the following letter to my great grandmother, whom I did not know.
Dear Bethany,
It was so wonderful to get to meet you this morning. Your smile is beautiful, smile more often. Always know that you are safe; there is nothing to fear. Fear only stops you from being you. Fear does not protect, it only creates more fear, more worry, and more stress.
Turn the fear that you feel into love. The strength of your fear cannot equal the strength of your love. Allow your love to carry your fear into the light. Fear cannot survive in the light. Fear harbors in darkness, in enclosed places where we try to keep it controlled and hidden away. But that only allows the fear to grow.
Let the light shine on you, on all parts of you, inside and out. Feel the love that the light brings.
Janet
