Be Thankful
How often do we focus on what we don’t have, what we want, rather than what we are thankful for?
A few days ago, I was doing an exercise in a book by life coach Morgana Rae. The exercise asks you to list one hundred things that you are thankful for. One hundred! I thought, how will I ever come up with 100 things that I am thankful for? We all can easily cite our families, our pets, our jobs, having a home and food to eat. So the first few items on the list were easy to come up with. Then I got stuck…What else was I thankful for? Then I realized that there are many, many categories of things that I am thankful for.
Living in the desert, I am truly thankful for rain. I am thankful for airplanes so that I can easily go see my relatives in Pennsylvania. I am thankful for sunsets, trees, and grass–all the many wonders that nature provides. (I’m not sure that I am thankful for ticks, though. That one is kind of tough. If you’ve ever had one crawling up your arm, you can probably understand!) I am thankful for modern conveniences–internet service, computers, and of the course the more basic wonders–running water and electricity!
What are you truly thankful for? What would be on your list of 100? Think about it and allow yourself to feel the gratitude for everything that you have and that you experience in life. God and the universe appreciate our thankful feelings and our acknowledgement of everything that we receive. By sending out graditute and appreciation, we open ourselves to receive even more.

I love this article; it really made me stop and realize how much I have to be thankful for. At first 100 sounds huge, but when we consider so many things that we take for granted my list could easily be 1000. My 12 year old is hearing impaired and wears a hearing aid and cochlea implant. When she first had the implant surgery and had it turned on she freaked out because the noise in the car was frightening her. I could not figure out what she was talking about until she pointed out the air coming from the car vent. It was amazing . I never even considered the little sounds that we hear every day and take for granted. If you really think about it we all have so many things to be grateful for. Your post inspired me to stop and consider all things in my life, big and small. Thank you
